The simplest way to get this is by opening a Windows Explorer, finding your folder, then right-clicking on it. The cd command will do this, but it will require a text string that points to the exact location on your hard drive.

You’ll be flying around this thing in no time! I’m doing this on Windows 10, so we need a few prerequisites that I thought I’d mention: Don’t worry though, I’ll walk you through the whole process. Check the status of your file again with the git status command.

Tell Git to track this file with the git add FILENAME command, replacing FILENAME.

In your terminal window, confirm that your file is present in the directory:.

Use your standard toolįor copying files, such as Finder in macOS, or File Explorer in Windows.

Copy the file into the appropriate directory in your project.
